I never thought I’d be here.

When I think about my journey, it feels like I’ve lived through a hundred different versions of myself.

But now, I’m Quan Cao an Agency Owner!!!, and I’ve learned a lot about building a digital marketing agency from scratch.

Let me take you back to the beginning.

I was in my junior year of college, unsure about my future.

I didn’t really know what digital marketing was, and I definitely didn’t think I’d be running an agency.

My first attempt was with a VA (Virtual Assistant) agency.

I tried cold calling, e-commerce, and drop shipping—but nothing worked.

It was a lot of trial and error.

I watched a ton of people online, and heard stories about how they were doing great.

I thought, “Why not me?” That’s when everything started to change.

One day, I saw a video by an online guru.

Something about it really clicked for me.

I thought, “This could work!”

So, I decided to go all in.

I started with Facebook marketing.

Big mistake.

I didn’t know what I was doing, and soon my account got banned.

At that point, I had about $2,000 in my bank account.

I spent almost all of it trying to figure things out.

I bought courses, tools, and systems that I thought would help—but nothing clicked.

I wasn’t booking calls. I wasn’t getting clients. I was just losing money.

I felt lost.

Then, I reached out to an influencer.

I decided to buy his course.

That was the turning point.

He showed me how to market, run ads, and build a system for my agency.

Finally, things started to make sense.

I went from feeling lost to feeling like I knew what I was doing.

But let me tell you, it wasn’t easy.

There were so many tools to use, so many ways to do things, and a ton of people claiming to have the "magic formula."

I kept asking myself, “How do I stand out? How do I make this work?”

Here’s what I realized:

I had to focus on the basics.

Digital marketing can be confusing, but it all comes down to a few key things.

I couldn’t just try everything. I had to pick something, stick with it, and make it work.

I chose cold outreach and SMS marketing.

I tested a few industries, and when I landed on business broker, it clicked.

I offered them a system that helped them get more clients using SEO and CRM marketing.

Once I picked my focus, I built a system.

That was the key.

A system that worked while I slept.

I automated as much as I could.

The more I learned, the more I connected the dots.

I learned how to run SMS campaigns.

I learned how to craft offers.

I linked email marketing to SMS, and suddenly, I had this marketing engine working automatically.

That’s when things really changed.

I didn’t have to spend my whole day calling people or hoping for leads.

My system did the work for me.

The more I added, the better the system got.

Soon, I had an agency that worked for me, not the other way around.

I didn’t have to work 12–18 hour days anymore.

The system was bringing in clients all day, every day.

And the best part? I didn’t need to be stuck at my desk 24/7.

I had time for the things I love, like traveling and relaxing.

This was freedom.

Now, my agency runs itself.

I don’t have to work all the time to get clients.

I automated everything.
